foxhole

This quadrangular building was designed by Oswald P Milne and built in 1931-2 as teaching space, library, common room and accommodation for the senior pupils of Dartington Hall School. As in the junior school at Foxhole, all pupils had their own study-bedrooms and in the boarding houses the sexes were mixed.

The Gymnasium on the site is separately listed and was designed by William Lescaze in 1933/34 and built by Staverton Builders.

Today the site has a mix of uses, including office and student accommodation for Dartington College of Arts. It is also used to accommodate participants during Dartington International Summer School.

Accessible from the A384 which goes through Dartington village. Turn off right at Dartington Church when travelling from Dartington village, and Foxhole is first right and then first left.

Foxhole is a Grade II listed building (click here to find out more about what listing means)

The exterior of the building is open to the public. Click here to see a map.
