Marshland areas are powerhouses of biodiversity.

They have proved essential in evolutionary processes, but farmland drainage in the UK has wiped out a vast acreage of this hugely important habitat.

One of Dartington’s marshland areas, Berryman’s Marsh, is recognised as a County Wildlife Site, which highlights its ecological significance.

The eco watch team have already undertaken selective vegetation clearance to open up wetland pond areas and to prevent them from clogging up and drying out.
