There are 38 breeding species of dragonflies and damselflies present in the UK.

They fall into two broad types - the darters and the hawkers - names that describe the different ways they hunt.

The darters perch on reeds by the side of ponds waiting for the prey to fly past; hawkers patrol the surface of the water.

The ponds and wetland habitat which the eco watch team are working to conserve are vital to their survival.
